Combining elements from the traditional and contemporary Japanese culture, the new Ramen Zundo Sapporo invites every diner to enjoy this lively and intimate 150sqm space.

The long booth seat has a dark brown leather base cushion. The backrest is framed by light wood and segmented into four sections, each featuring a light beige fabric cushion. Above the wood frame, the wall is dark gray, roughly textured, and illuminated by four evenly spaced, circular, frosted globe light fixtures. Four square, light wood dining tables are set against the booth, each paired with a matching light wood chair visible in the foreground. The overall aesthetic is warm, contemporary, and industrial.

Taking cues from the name of the venue, Unita and designers Tom Mark Henry worked together to create a hospitality fitout that reflects the “Zundo”, meaning cylindrical pots which are used in the preparation of the ramen served. Pops of colour in the furniture and joinery are contrasted against a raw palette of concrete, steel, brick and charred timber. Whilst the worn linens and leathers further soften the space, a playfulness vibe is provoked through the neon display.
