Runaway Bay Tavern has undergone a complete transformation, with its long-standing sports bar and TAB reinvented into a vibrant, open-plan destination.
The much-loved local pub is now a contemporary venue designed to bring people together, blending earthy tones, warm timber detailing and a lively outdoor beer garden.
Designed by Push and delivered by Unita, this hospitality fitout was carried out in carefully staged phases to manage both scale and complexity. Midway through construction, significant water damage was uncovered on site. Rather than letting this derail progress, Unita stepped in to coordinate specialist contractors, ensuring the venue was fully remediated and ready for works to continue. This allowed the project to move forward safely while maintaining momentum with the client.
The fitout brings a fresh new identity to the tavern. Inside, the sports bar features spotted gum timber detailing, digital media upgrades and a striking mural commissioned for the TAB. Outside, the beer garden has been opened up and re-energised with festoon lighting and generous seating, transforming it into a welcoming social hub.
The result is a reinvigorated local landmark that is a centrepiece in Australian Venue Co.’s portfolio and repositions Runaway Bay Tavern as a destination in its own right.
