Unita x Point Hotel
Point hotel will take guests to their happy place.
Nestled in lush surrounds a stone’s throw from the Brisbane River, Point Hotel is a guest favourite in the making. A major refurbishment is underway to transform this 90s building into a home away from home, thanks to Unita, Bergman & Co and Cecatto Architects.
kitchen comforts.
Stage 1 of the project is already complete, with the fully-upgraded kitchen featuring a new beech oven set into a granite wall, adding warmth and visual impact to the entire space. While works were underway, a temporary kitchen was installed on a higher floor, which had such a positive impact on room service that a second kitchen will become a permanent feature of the hotel.

Seamless transitions.
The dining room will be a centrepiece of the project – but this space isn’t just about the food. Taking advantage of the ample Queensland sun streaming through the full-height glazing, the new layout will create a connection with the outdoors, with deck chairs overlooking the swimming pool and convenient access to cocktails from the restaurant bar.
Creating a feeling of homeliness was central to the brief. I want guests to feel a sense of ownership over the space they occupy within the building.

Texture and contrast.
Throughout the hotel, contrasting textures will help create a sense of comfort and familiarity. From the intricate wooden latticework crafted locally in Unita’s factory, to the hand-sewn leather detailing, to the inviting warmth of the gas-fired pizza oven, every detail has been carefully curated with home in mind.
