Cingulum Health is reinventing treatment for neurological disorders and mental illness.
The multi-disciplinary practice is the brainchild of world-renowned brain surgeon, Professor Charlie Teo, and his daughter Alexandra Teo.
With the design formed by Alexandra and Katie Teo with the help of architects Symth + Smyth, Unita was briefed to build a space that combined science and evidence-based medical but, unlike a typical medical space, is enveloped in a sense of warmth and comfort. Employing biophilic design principals, the space includes indoor gardens, fluted Tasmanian oak feature walls and abundant natural light and airflow to create a sense of both physical and mental wellness.
The practice incorporates both wide open co-working spaces and intimate smaller rooms; tied together with the industrial details that add character throughout the heritage listed building.
"Our mandate to Unita was to create a space that had both a feeling of science and evidence-based medicine but also a feeling of wellness and happiness. I wanted patients to come in here and be confident that they were getting the best of both worlds - I must say they definitely created that space. I know that because when people come in, they’re almost immediately at ease and they feel like they’re being treated as a person, rather than a number or patient file.
I cannot be more complimentary of working with Unita Health, we will absolutely be using them again if we decide to franchise out and built other locations."
