Building Excellence: Unita’s Fit-out of Four Stunning Restaurants at Queen’s Wharf

At Unita, we don’t just build spaces, we craft experiences that are equal parts stunning and seamless. Enter Queen’s Wharf, Brisbane’s freshest dining precinct, where we had the absolute pleasure of delivering not one, not two, but FOUR drool-worthy restaurant fit-outs.
From luxe steakhouse vibes to moody Greek romance, each venue is a testament to top-tier craftsmanship, teamwork, and high standards. You might be thinking, “Running four huge projects at once? How did you get it done so successfully?” Well, it all comes down to expert planning, precision, and a team that thrives on challenges.
“Managing multiple projects of this scale requires a sharp focus on coordination, adaptability, and attention to detail. Each project was different, but the common thread was our commitment to delivering top-tier quality, every time,” says Nick Miller, Commercial Construction Manager at Unita.
Let’s take a peek inside Black Hide, Pompette, Dark Shepherd, and Huā. Spoiler: they’re all ridiculously good-looking.
Black Hide: Steakhouse Royalty, Now With a River View
Black Hide is basically the Beyoncé of Brisbane steakhouses – iconic, award-winning, and effortlessly cool. And now, it’s got a brand-new home at Queen’s Wharf, complete with prime views of the Brisbane River. Tasked with a Design and Construct contract, we took Sshyne Studio x By Culprit’s jaw-dropping design and made it a reality, refining lighting, materials, and every tiny detail to absolute perfection.
All four of these restaurants were located within a live Tier 1 EBA construction site, which is no small feat. With a 16-week schedule for Black Hide and a talented team behind the scenes, we delivered this stunning steakhouse fit-out seamlessly, navigating the complexities of working in such a high-activity environment. “Working within a live construction environment required a lot of precision and teamwork to ensure that we met deadlines while maintaining our high standards,” says Nick. From precise site surveys to flawless execution, we left no detail unchecked.
Pompette: A Little Slice of Paris in Brisbane
If you’re dreaming of an effortlessly chic French dining spot where you can sip champagne on a terrace, meet Pompette. With three private dining rooms and breathtaking views, this venue is très magnifique.
The Design and Construct project took 20 weeks, and we had to work through a few unexpected delays shifting focus to other areas to ensure minimal disruption to the timeline. As with any project, challenges arise, but our team’s problem-solving abilities meant we were able to navigate any obstacles and keep everything on track. Whether it was material sourcing or delivery, we made sure the final product was absolutely flawless.
Dark Shepherd: Greek Drama, But Make It Chic
Picture this: moody lighting, sleek design, and the smell of sizzling lamb and fresh seafood in the air. That’s Dark Shepherd, the modern Greek restaurant you didn’t know you needed in your life.
Over 19 weeks, we brought Clui’s dark, romantic vision to life, overcoming several challenges along the way. There was a technically complex structural design in this project but with expert precision, we turned it into a reality. Thanks to our expert CAD operators who refined the drawings to be perfect down to the millimetre for our manufacturing team, making life for our delivery team a breeze. “In this project, every detail mattered. From structural design to the final finish, we ensured the vision was executed with precision and style,” says Nick. Special shoutout goes to our delivery team for this one – who ensured all defects were sorted within 24 hours of handover (incredible!).
Huā: A Chinese Masterpiece with a Sichuan Kick
Last but definitely not least, Huā is serving up next-level Cantonese cuisine with a spicy Sichuan twist. We were engaged under a construct-only contract, which meant every tiny detail had to be executed flawlessly. Challenge accepted. The team worked hand-in-hand with Far East Consortium Australia to tackle any challenges, smooth out the bumps and create a space that is just as good-looking as the food on the table.
With a 13-week construction program, we tackled every obstacle head-on from site coordination to precise installation, delivering a stunning result. Every element came together seamlessly, ensuring that Huā wasn’t just a restaurant—it became a masterpiece in dining.
Building the Future of Hospitality (One Beautiful Fit-Out at a Time)
From rare steaks to French bubbles, Greek feasts to Sichuan spice, these Queen’s Wharf hotspots are officially open—and looking absolutely stunning. At Unita, we live for projects like these: complex, creative, and full of challenges we love to solve.
